Suggested cemetery walk

Start at the entrance that suits your journey. This sequence connects the selected landmarks:

  1. Chausseestraße entrance: Access point on Chausseestraße.
  2. Hannoversche Straße pedestrian entrance: Southern pedestrian entrance on Hannoversche Straße; bicycles are not permitted.
  3. Cemetery chapel: Chapel with James Turrell’s light installation.
  4. Visitor toilet: Free wheelchair-accessible toilet for cemetery visitors.
  5. Martin Luther memorial: Landmark within the cemetery.
  6. Philippstraße stop near the cemetery: Bus stop about 40 metres from the cemetery boundary; it is not on the cemetery grounds.

Respectful visiting

Remain on permitted paths, give funeral ceremonies space and do not photograph people or private acts of remembrance without consent.

Allow for time and distance

The route is not signposted and has no binding distance. Compare it with the cemetery map, allow breaks on larger grounds and return to the exit well before closing.
